In 2011, Willlard, a Bull Pac customer, had the idea of purchasing a Bull Pac to help a struggling family he supports in Thailand.
Chatchawal is a young man who has been to Junior College and received an Associate’s Degree in Business & English. He works for the Family Farm harvesting corn which is turned into ethanol. The steep mountain terrain prevents the tractor getting up to the cornfields used for farming, so all goods are packed up and down the mountain on the backs of this family.
Chatchawal was thrilled to put it to use carrying two 40# bags of corn off the mountain at a time and 100# loads of fertilizer up to the cornfields. His Father uses it in the off season to hunt and sell the meat & skins to keep the family going. They also pack fish, frogs and rice…all sold just to get by. Once, Chatchawal even packed his 50kg Mother up the cornfields on his Bull Pac!
In the words of Willard, “Things are certainly a whole lot better than they were when I was first introduced to Chatchawal’s family and their village back around 2002. They still are very much susceptible to unexpected losses. They’ve never had much, but they’ve always been pretty happy people; lots of heartaches, but also lots of joy.”
What a great way to give back! Thanks for sharing, Willard!
